Our Story

Hello, and welcome to our little online shop.

We’re Laura and Russ, and from our home in Shropshire we run Relics & Roots — a small business built around our shared love of antiques, gardens, wildlife, craftsmanship and objects with a sense of history.

We’re drawn to pieces with texture, patina and character — things that feel as though they’ve lived a life before finding their next home. Over the years we’ve owned plenty of modern ‘make do for now’ furniture, and it certainly served a purpose, but more and more we found ourselves valuing things made properly; things with warmth, personality and longevity.

We buy what we genuinely love and would happily live with ourselves for a while — which explains why there is currently a very large ceramic turtle living in the house, alongside the extremely heavy head from an old playground horse called Bonny Bright Eyes.

Practicalities (and our backs!) mean we can’t bring home everything we fall in love with, so we focus mainly on decorative and useful pieces for interiors and gardens — weathered garden items, botanical art, pots, tools, stands, mirrors, decorative objects and unusual finds that add character to a space.

You’ll notice a strong botanical thread running through much of what we choose. We seem unable to resist anything that brings together gardens, craftsmanship and age.

Most of our selling happens online, though we occasionally trade at antiques fairs and markets too. If you’re searching for something particular, feel free to get in touch — we’re always happy to keep an eye out while sourcing.

We also travel regularly around the country on buying trips, so depending on location we may be able to arrange delivery ourselves. Smaller items can usually be posted or sent by courier, and collection is always welcome.

Most importantly, we genuinely enjoy meeting people who love these objects as much as we do. If you’d like to view any pieces in person, just send us a message and we’ll arrange a time.

We're glad you found us.
